Domestic/Export Abattoir Licence - Northern Territory

Service summary

This licence is required by persons intending to operate a domestic or export abattoir where the meat is for human consumption in Australia. If you gain an export abattoir licence, you can operate a domestic abattoir but not vice versa.

Further information is available in the Guidelines Relating to the Production of Meat for Human Consumption. This, and other applicable Australian Standards are available for purchase from the agency, and relate to construction and operation of abattoirs and transportation of meat.

Export establishment with Department of Agriculture, Food is a prerequisite for exporters.
