Firearm Club Licence - Northern Territory

Description

You will need this licence if your club intends to own firearms the use of club members.

A firearm club may include the following and operate for purposes connected with the discharge of firearms:

  • shooting unions
  • associations
  • clubs
  • other groups of people.

Your club must be licensed and have the facilities used by the club inspected by a qualified range inspector and approved by the Commissioner of Police as being safe for use by club members as well as the public.

Eligibility requirements

Licence holders must:

  • comply with the relevant safe keeping and storage requirements under the Firearms Act 1997
  • not permit any unauthorised person to possess or use a firearm in the holder's possession
  • permit a police officer to inspect, at any reasonable time, the holder's facilities for the storage and safe keeping of firearms
  • not possess an amount of ammunition that exceeds the amount authorised in writing by the Commissioner.
