Waste Discharge Licence (into Water) - Northern Territory

Service summary

It is an offence under the Water Act to pollute water or allow waste to come into contact with water without a waste discharge licence. Waste discharge licences are used to regulate impacts on water quality in the Northern Territory, including the quality and quantity of wastewater discharged to waterways by Industry and Commercial Operations.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.


Maximum of 2 years unless approved by the Controller of Water.
