Water Extraction Licence - Northern Territory

Description

You may need this licence if you intend to take surface water or groundwater in a water control district, and you do not have direct access to the water source. Surface water is water stored in dams and tanks. Groundwater is water from below the surface of the ground and includes water from a bore or aquifer.

The following districts are water control districts:

  • Alice Springs
  • Daly Roper Beetaloo
  • Darwin rural
  • Gove
  • Great Artesian Basin
  • Tennant Creek
  • Ti Tree
  • Western Davenport.

This licence will allow you to take water using a bore or river pump system.
