Building Permit - Northern Territory

Service summary

A Building Permit is required to undertake any building work. The Northern Territory building legislation provides for private certification of building works. Under this system Building Permits are issued by registered Building Certifiers. A Building Permit must be obtained before commencing any building works.

Eligibility requirements

An application for a Building Permit may be made on the approved form to a Building Certifier by the owner of the building, or the land in or on which the building work is to be carried out, or by the owner's agent.
