Armourer's licence - Queensland

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to operate a business that stores, manufactures, modifies or repairs some weapons. This licence may be endorsed for weapon categories A, B, C, D, E, H, M and R.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible, you must:

  • be at least 18 years old
  • reside only in Queensland
  • be a fit and proper person with specific reference to mental state, misuse of drugs and / or firearms and offences involving violence or threatened violence
  • have a registered business providing details of the enterprise (e.g. sole proprietor, partnership or company)
  • provide a company extract detailing office holders of the company
  • provide a business plan including details of intended client / market base
  • a copy of a Statement of Attainment certifying completion of the approved safety course for the categories of weapons applied for
  • have adequate knowledge of safety practices relating to the use and maintenance of weapons for the category of weapons applied for
  • provide details of all qualifications and experience relevant to performing the functions of an armourer - this may be in the form of a resume and may contain referees from person/s within the industry
  • provide information on tools and equipment
  • provide information on work intentions
  • have demonstrated ability to manufacture, modify or repair weapons
  • provide understanding of the legislation as it affects a licensed armourer
  • have a purpose-built safe and secure premises in compliance with Regulations
  • provide written approval from local council authority.

Your business premises and all storage and display facilities must be reasonably secure from unlawful entry and comply with the minimum safety standards as prescribed by the regulations.
