Service summary

This support service is provided to achieve the sustainable use of Queensland's natural resources through the development, co-ordination and implementation of State-wide policies that contribute to the effective planning of the Department of Natural Resources and Mines State interests.


The provision of this support is consistent with Government policy, which seeks to ensure that the State's water, land, native vegetation are developed and managed in an environmentally, economically, culturally and socially responsible manner.

Development of policies and supporting guidelines for the sustainable development of natural resources on matters such as:

  • State Planning Policy 1/12 Protection of Queensland's Strategic Cropping Land
  • State Planning Policy 1/92 Development and the Conservation of Agricultural Land
  • State Planning Policy 2/02 Planning and Managing Development Involving Acid Sulfate Soils
  • State Planning Policy 2/07 Protection of Extractive Resources
