Service summary

This registration is required for a person to operate as certain types of surveyors.

It is up to the applicant to obtain a copy of the Surveyors Act 2003.

Eligibility requirements

You must:

  • Meet the Competency Assessment process for the applicable level of registration sought
  • Surveyors currently registered in another state or territory or New Zealand may apply by satisfying the Board that he/she is registered as a surveyor with a Reciprocating Board or other competent authority of a state or territory of the Commonwealth, or of New Zealand, or that he is entitled to be so registered. This is called a Reciprocal Registration.


This registration remains in effect until 31 December each year and is renewed in the period from October to December.

Submit the appropriate application form to the Board. An individual who intends to practice as a surveyor will be required to pay an application fee plus an annual registration fee.

The following documents must be submitted with the application:

  • Copies of academic transcript, diplomas and other relevant certificates
  • Completed and approved Professional Assessment Project (PAP)
  • Evidence of competency issued within 12 months of the date of this application or Letter of Accreditation if registering under the Reciprocal Registration
  • Two signed references issued within 12 months, to good fame and character.

Approval by the Board Members during a Board meeting is required before the registration is granted.

This registration cannot be transferred.
