Definition of terms

Exemption from pilotage licence

a master who holds an exemption from pilotage for the ships in the area. The master personally has the conduct of the ship.

Pilot

a person licensed as a pilot and who, when on board a ship, has the conduct of it even though the person does not belong to the ship.

Pilotage area endorsement

a Queensland Pilot, or exemption from licence, endorsed to have conduct of a ship as its pilot within specified pilotage area.
