You require this registration to keep a dog or cat as defined in Councils Local Law No. 2 (Animal Management) 2011 and Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Act 2008.

Eligibility requirements


Only one dog to be registered at each premises in a designated town area unless separate application is made for a permit to keep more than one dog.

In any case, a maximum of two dogs will be permitted to be kept in any premises in a designated town area. Two dogs will be permitted to be registered on premises outside a designated town area. A permit is required for three dogs on premises outside a designated town area.

Only two cats can be registered to premises in a designated town area.
