Stationary vehicle/stall and roadside vending (Logan) - Queensland

Service summary

This licence is required for anyone selling goods from a premises or a vehicle to a person who has not contracted for the supply of goods.

It is required for:

  • roadside stalls
  • mobile itinerant vending vehicles
  • the distribution of advertising publications on public land.

If you are selling food, a separate application is also required for the operation of a food business.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.


This licence is renewed annually and attracts an annual fee.


All fees are listed on the application form.


Submit a completed Application for a permit business on a public place - stall, busking, touting or distribution of business advertising publications to council.

Application forms and information kits are available from council's website.

Prior to submitting your application you should:

  • ensure the site has relevant Development Approval to prevent the application being delayed
  • obtain written approval from the Department of Transport and Main Roads. Please note: this is only required if your business is on a state controlled road.

If you are operating on state-controlled roads, contact the Department of Transport and Main Roads for information on the State Government roadside vending policy.

Non residential property search:

To establish the viability of purchasing a business, it is strongly recommended that the potential purchaser apply for non-residential property information. This search may provide the potential purchaser with either a database report or inspection of the business for legal compliance pursuant to the relevant legislation.
