Why the Support is Provided?

Growcom is the peak representative body for Queensland horticulture and strives for the long term growth and profitability of horticultural farms and the industry. Our core membership consists of Queensland's fruit and vegetable producers and those individuals, groups and industries which have a stake or interest in the future of Queensland horticulture. Growcom exists to provide strong leadership to horticultural growers in developing policy on issues affecting production horticulture, delivers professional services to horticultural growers and other horticultural stakeholders to enhance their business efficiency and profitability and provides an information hub on issues relating to horticulture at a state and national level.

What Support is Provided?

Growcom provides the Queensland horticulture industry with the following services:

  • Advocacy and Policy - providing influential representation, strong leadership and committed action on behalf of horticulture growers and their businesses.
  • Industry services - including workplace relations, marketing and communications, financial, secretariat, climate change, industry development, pest management and occupational health and safety advice and assistance.
  • Natural resources services - experienced staff are located throughout the state to help horticultural producers to manage their land and water assets in order to ensure profitable operations and environmentally sustainable practices while operating within a legislative framework.
  • Training - including Freshcare training, forklift licence assessments and centre pivot and lateral move training.
  • Information - keeping members informed by providing up to date industry information.

As a Growcom member you will receive the magazine Fruit & Vegetable News 11 times per year and Horticulture Now every fortnight as an information source on a wide range of topics relevant to the industry and which are not generally available in the mainstream media. Articles cover topics such as:

  • profiles of fruit and vegetable growers and their operations
  • marketing innovations used by various commodities
  • technical features on research and development projects
  • workplace relations/occupational health and safety advice
  • better business and farming practices
  • local and overseas industry news
  • local association and industry meetings
  • information on legislative and regulatory requirements.

Eligibility requirements

Support services are available to any registered fruit and vegetable grower who maintains financial membership of Growcom and are free or provided at discounted rates. Services are also available to other stakeholders in the industry upon application, at commercially competitive rates.

Fees

As a financial member of Growcom you have access to the above services.

Fees are $500.00 plus GST for Grower membership. You can also apply for Corporate or Preferred Supplier or Affiliate membership. Non members can subscribe separately to the magazine as a subscription only membership.  All membership categories and fees are available on the website at www.growcom.com.au
