Specialist advice on pest and disease identification in horticulture crops - Queensland

Service summary

To facilitate the accurate identification of pests and diseases affecting Queensland horticulture crops and allow appropriate management decisions to be made, a fee-for-service diagnostic service is provided.

The department provides expertise in the identification of insect pests and plant diseases, dependent upon submission of an appropriate sample. Areas of expertise include:

  • tree fruit diseases
  • vegetable diseases
  • plant viruses
  • nematology (worms in the soil)
  • post-harvest pathology
  • weevils in stored products
  • fruit fly
  • pests of nursery and ornamental crops.
