Service summary

The department provides this support to:

  • improve the availability of high quality and appropriate water resource information for co-ordinated planning and sustainable development;
  • improve the assessment of the State's water and related resources; and
  • plan for the community's future water and water-related needs and to propose and assess broad options to meet those needs.

The department provides a database of information on private and investigation bores throughout the state. The database contains:

  • information on the bores strata
  • bore construction
  • water levels
  • aquifer
  • water quality
  • bore location; and
  • elevation etc.

Output is available through the operational centres in either disk form or hard copy (text or plots).

Definition of terms

Investigation bore

means a bore drilled by the Department for its own use to examine specific issues in relation to the changing water quality, quantity and level.
