Service summary

Why the Support is Provided?

The Armed Robbery Unit provides this support to:

  • assist members of the community to prevent instances of armed robbery;
  • create awareness of how to react and preserve evidence when instances occur.

What Support is Provided?

Business communities can telephone the Armed Robbery Squad to enquire regarding armed robberies lectures which are available.

The Armed Robbery Squad requires a minimum of ten people (from a single business or from a community group) to attend the lecture. Some of the awareness measures covered are:

  • what to do and what not to do in the instance of armed hold up;
  • suspect identification;
  • firearm identification;
  • trauma awareness;
  • preparation of individual security measures;
  • information on how armed robber gangs operate and the degree of violence likely to be used.

Eligibility requirements

No specific eligibility criteria apply. All lectures are at the discretion of the Detective Senior Sergeant, Officer in Charge, Armed Robbery Unit.
