Service summary

A Snake Catching Permit enables a current holder of a specialist keep and sell permit to:

  • locate, capture and translocate a reptile causing anxiety or danger to a member of the public;
  • locate, capture and take into captivity an eastern brown snake (Pseudonaja textilis) that is causing anxiety or danger to a member of the public.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

A Snake Catchers Permit will only be available to a person who currently holds a specialists keep and sell permit endorsed to keep venomous snakes (category 2) or has held a category 1 permit for a period of 1 year and is applying for a category 2 endorsement.
