A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

A company is entitled to be licensed as an agent if it has not been suspended or disqualified from practising or carrying on a trade, occupation or business in Australia; under official management, in receivership or being wound up. A company must demonstrate sufficient financial resources.

A company must employ a manager who holds an agents licence authorising the person to perform the same functions as the company, without supervision. The company's directors must be fit and proper persons, must demonstrate sufficient business knowledge and experience, must not be found guilty or convicted of an offence of a class specified in the Regulations and must not have been suspended or disqualified from practising a trade, occupation or business in Australia; within the last 5 years prior to the company's application for a licence, been a director of a company wound up for the benefit of creditors - when the company was being wound up or within the period of 6 months preceding the commencement of the winding up.
