Persons intending to operate a child care centre, preschool, family day care scheme or out of school hours care service (or any other service declared in regulations) and employing or contracting persons to provide education and care for children under the age of six years, must have a Provider Approval, a Service Approval and a Nominated Supervisor for the service.
A person with Provider approval can operate any Approved services, unless there is a condition on their approval limiting the services they may operate.
A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.
Body corporate or natural person. To be approved as a Provider, a person must be fit and proper with financial circumstances that do not limit their capacity to meet their obligations in providing an education and care service.
Approval, when granted, applies until cancelled or surrendered.
