Charter Boat Fishery Licence - South Australia

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to provide commercial charter boat fishing services. Commercial charter boat fishing services involve the assistance and facilitation of recreational fishing for a fee.

No new licences for charter boat fishing are being issued. Licences are only available by transfer from an existing licence holder.

Licence applicants must also register:

  • any boat or device used under this licence
  • a person as a master of any boat used under this licence.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible, you must:

  • be 15 years or older
  • be a fit and proper person
  • hold a public liability insurance policy of at least $10,000,000 for each registered boat.

If the transferee is a company, each director of the company must be a fit and proper person.

Duration

Licences are valid for the period of the applicable management plan. The current management plan will cease on 31 July 2023, at which point current licences will expire.
