Rock Lobster Fishery Licence: Northern and Southern Zone - South Australia

Service summary

No new licences are being issued by the Department. Northern Zone and Southern Zone licences are only available by transfer from an existing licence holder. Individual transferable quotas apply in both zones.

Licences will not be renewed unless a rock lobster pot entitlement of not less than 40 is endorsed on the licence (Southern Zone) or 20 (Northern Zone). Rock lobster holders can also hold giant crab quotas.

Registered boats used under a fishery authority, in respect of the Northern Zone and Southern Zone Rock Lobster Fishery, may be required to have a Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) unit installed. Contact the Department for further information.

Eligibility requirements

Applicants should be natural person, a minimum of 15 years of age, or a proprietary or public company, be nominated by an existing licence holder and have not within three years of the date of application been convicted in the State or elsewhere in Australia of an offence involving a breach of any legislation relating to fishing.
