Asbestos Assessor Licence - South Australia

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to act as an asbestos assessor. An asbestos assessor undertakes the following activities:

  • air monitoring during Class A asbestos removal work
  • clearance inspections for Class A asbestos removal work
  • issuing clearance certificates in relation to Class A asbestos removal work.

A clearance inspection must be carried out after licensed asbestos removal work has been completed. Where the asbestos removal work must be carried out by the holder of a Class A asbestos removal licence, the clearance inspection must be carried out by a licensed asbestos assessor. A clearance certificate must be issued by a licensed asbestos assessor before the asbestos removal area can be re-occupied.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence, you must:

  • have acquired through training or experience the knowledge and skills of relevant asbestos removal industry practice
  • have completed the specified VET course for asbestos assessor work or hold a tertiary qualification in occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, science, building construction or environmental health
  • provide any information required by the Agency.

If you are applying on behalf of a company, or other organisation, you must be able to ensure that the asbestos assessment work will be carried out safely and competently.
