Firearms Dealer's Licence - Tasmania

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to purchase, sell, test, store, repair or manufacture firearms. Licensed firearm dealers trade in firearms, ammunition, parts and accessories.

As a dealer any person you employ is required to obtain a firearm dealer's employee licence before they can handle firearms or ammunition as part of their employment.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • be at least 18 years old
  • ensure that you and your close associates are fit and proper people
  • hold appropriate current professional indemnity insurance
  • have primary responsibility for the management of the business proposed
  • have satisfactorily completed an approved firearms safety course
  • be able to meet the storage and safety requirements in accordance with legislation.

It is a condition of this licence that the licence holder is familiar, and willing to comply with, all relevant and current state and commonwealth legislation.

You will need to submit quarterly returns within 14 days after the end of the months of March, June, September and December in each year.
