Service summary

You are required to be registered if you intend to practise in medical radiation in Australia. Medical radiation includes activities such as:

  • medical radiation practitioner
  • medical imaging technologist
  • diagnostic radiographer
  • radiographer
  • nuclear medicine technologist
  • nuclear medicine scientist
  • Radiation therapist.

Please note that the types of activities considered a part of medical radiation may be updated or changed from time to time.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

You may be eligible for general, provisional, non-practising or limited registration if you are:

  • qualified for registration in the relevant health profession
  • not disqualified under law from applying, or being registered
  • meet any other requirements stated in the registration standard.
