You will require this licence if you drive a small passenger vehicle and you intend to operate as a wheelchair-accessible taxi (WAT) service. This licence authorises the vehicle to be hired within or between taxi zones that the licence relates too. Services may be offered to all taxi users, whether wheelchair-reliant or not.
Please note that this licence will be specific to your vehicle and you must not lease or assign this licence to another person. You may transfer the licence with the permission of the Agency. You do not have to drive the vehicle yourself, but you always remain responsible for the licence.
You are strongly encouraged to consult the Agency before submitting your application.
A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.
To be eligible for this licence, you must:
- complete a specified training course
- complete the application forms relevant to your proposed operation
- specify the area to which your application applies
- provide proof of your accreditation as a passenger transport operator
- have an appropriate wheelchair accessible vehicle
- hold appropriate current professional indemnity insurance
- pay the prescribed fee.

Annual administration fees vary from $278.46 to $670.14 depending on the area(s) in which you intend to operate.
