Race Field Information Approval - Tasmania

Service summary

You will require this approval if you are a bookmaker or wagering operator and you intend to publish Tasmanian race field information. Tasmanian race field information is information that identifies (or is capable of identifying) names or numbers of horses or greyhounds that have been nominated for (or will take part in) a race in Tasmania, or horses or greyhounds that have been scratched or withdrawn from a race intended to be held in Tasmania.

If you intend to publish Tasmanian race field information it does not matter whether you are registered in Tasmania or another state, you will still require this approval. This approval applies to greyhound, thoroughbred and harness racing.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this approval you must:

  • Pay the prescribed fee;
  • Be a fit and proper person;
  • Have a licence or authority (however described) under any State or Territory legislation to carry out wagering operations (whether in Tasmania or elsewhere);
  • Comply with any conditions placed on the approval; and
  • Provide required details with your application, such as gross revenue, criminal history, types of wagering you offer, gross revenue, details of proposed publication, and policy and procedures you have relating to racing integrity issues.

Please note you do not have to pay the fee if your combined assessable annual turnover is less than $2.5 million. Please consult the Contact Officer for more information regarding eligibility requirements.

Approval time

An application for an approval is to be made at least 30 days before the race to which the approval relates (or if the approval is to relate to a class of races, the first race belonging to that class) is to take place.
