Registration as a Property Manager - Tasmania

Service summary

You will require this registration if you intend to operate as a property manager, whose activities include but are not limited to:

  • Negotiating the leasing or letting of property;
  • Collecting rents for property that is leased or let; and
  • Managing property that is leased or let.

Property managers can apply to be listed on the register as either a company or sole trader.

Please note, that if you intend to employ either assistant property managers or property consultants, these appointments must be approved by the Board and potential employees must meet all eligibility and qualification requirements.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • Be able to satisfy the Board, by examination or inquiry, that you have sufficient knowledge and experience;
  • Advertise a Notice of Intention in the local newspaper prior to your application (the public must be given 14 days to object to the issue of the licence);
  • Be considered by the Agency to be a fit and proper person of good reputation, both generally and financially;
  • Be prepared to undergo continuing education as specified by the Agency; and
  • Pay the relevant application fees.

The Agency may request further evidence to satisfy them that you are qualified to be registered or are a fit and proper person to be a Property Manager.

Expires on 31 December each year.



Annual registration in Part 2, Division (1) of the Register. 

Plus additional fee for each assistant property manager: $70.38.

Annual registration in Part 2, Division (2) of the Register. 



Your application must be in an approved form, showing an understanding of the necessary compliance with current legislation, training, and record-keeping requirements and be accompanied by any specified documentation as well as the required fees.
