Eligibility Certificate for Pharmacy Ownership - Tasmania

Service summary

You will require an eligibility certificate if you intend to hold an interest in a pharmacy business. An eligibility certificate (EC) is an annual licence that confirms the holder's eligibility to have an interest in a pharmacy business. It can cover up to four businesses if all the interests are held in the name of the holder of that EC. Eligibility certificates may be applied for as either:

  • an individual
  • an individual as trustee for a trust
  • a body corporate (a Pty Ltd company)
  • a body corporate as trustee for a trust.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this certificate you must:

  • hold national accreditation as a pharmacist, or if applying as a body or trust, have a controlling interest as a registered pharmacist
  • supply any evidence as required by the Authority
  • provide an application in the approved form and which is accompanied by the appropriate fee.

It is preferred that applications are emailed to the Registrar, however hard copies of large documents such as trust deeds and constitutions should be posted.
