You will need this licence if you intend to grow alkaloid poppies for research or scientific purposes. Alkaloid poppy means a species of the plant Papaver somniferum or Papaver bracteatum. These species contain alkaloid material, including morphine, thebaine and codeine, for use in pharmaceuticals.
