New Tasmanian building laws have come into

building and plumbing work. This record will be updated to reflect the new
building laws in early January.
If you are operating as a plumber you may need to obtain certification for certain materials or products prior to using them. Plumbing and drainage installations or systems may need to be certified before they can be used in Tasmania. This includes:
- Systems of water supply;
- Systems of sewage or sullage drainage or disposal;
- Systems of stormwater drainage, roof drainage or trade waste drainage; or
- On-site waste water management systems.
Please note that:
- If you intend to install a plumbing and drainage installation or system it is vital that you only install those that have received certification; and
- If you are designing, manufacturing or selling plumbing and drainage installations or systems you can apply to the Agency for them to be certified.
