Asbestos Assessor Licence - Tasmania

Service summary

You will require this licence if you intend to act as an asbestos assessor. The assessment work that this licence entitles you to carry out includes air monitoring during Class A asbestos removal work, or the carrying out of clearance inspections and issuing of clearance certificates after the completion of Class A asbestos removal work. Class A asbestos removal work includes the removal of friable asbestos or asbestos-contaminated dust.

You may not be required to apply for this licence if you hold an equivalent licence in another jurisdiction.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • provide evidence of at least two years of relevant industry experience
  • have completed the specified VET course for asbestos assessor work or hold a tertiary qualification in occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, science, building construction or environmental health
  • provide any other information required by the Agency.

If you are applying on behalf of a company, or other organisation, you must be able to ensure that the asbestos assessment work will be carried out safely and competently.
