Permit of Substantial Compliance - Tasmania

Service summary

An owner is required to apply to the permit authority for this permit in respect of completed, or partially completed, work on the premises that:

  • Fails to comply with this legislation; and
  • Is the subject of a building order relating to illegal building work.

The relevant permit authority will evaluate whether the work fails to comply with legislation and therefore eligible for a permit of substantial compliance. Applications must be accompanied by a certificate of substantial compliance that is in force in respect of the work.

Eligibility requirements

An application for a permit of substantial compliance must:

  • Be accompanied by a certificate of substantial compliance that is in force in respect of the building work that is the subject of the application;
  • Include specified information;
  • Be accompanied by such documentation as is required by the permit authority; and
  • Be accompanied by the prescribed fee, if any.
