Owner-Operator Taxi Licence - Tasmania

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to operate a vehicle as a taxi. This licence enables the taxi to be hired from a taxi zone, by being hailed, or by being booked and ordered. This licence must not be leased or assigned to another person.

Owner-operator licence may be obtained:

  • through an annual release by the government
  • by purchasing a licence from an existing licence holder and have it transferred with the consent of the agency.

Please note that temporary taxi licences are also available.

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • be a natural person (as this licence is not issued to a company)
  • be accredited to operate a taxi
  • be a registered operator of a suitable vehicle that is not used to provide a taxi service under the authority of another taxi licence.
