Petroleum Pipeline Licence - Tasmania

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to construct, alter or operate a petroleum pipeline in the Tasmanian coastal area. Tasmanian coastal waters extend for three nautical miles from the coastline of Tasmania.

This licence is also needed for pumping stations, tank stations or valve stations, as well as secondary lines or water lines.

A pipeline licence authorises you to construct a pipeline according to set specifications, and associated infrastructure. It also authorises you to operate that infrastructure.

Before you commence operating, constructing, modifying or decommissioning a pipeline you will also need to nominate a person who has responsibility for the day-to-day management and control of the pipeline as operator. This person must be registered with the relevant Authority.
