Notice of Proposed Protection Work - Tasmania

Service summary

Before conducting any building, plumbing or demolition work, protection work must be undertaken. Protection work is work that serves the purpose of protecting:

  • Adjoining premises;
  • People at the premises of work as well as people at adjoining premises; and
  • Members of the public.

Protection work includes but is not limited to:

  • Overhead protection for adjoining property;
  • Shoring up of adjoining properties; or
  • Means of support for the adjoining properties.

Before performing protection work you must notify the following people:

  • Adjoining owners;
  • The relevant building surveyor; and
  • The relevant permit authority.

Licence

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

A notice of proposed protection work must:

  • Be in an approved form;
  • Include details of the proposed building work, plumbing work or demolition work to be performed at the relevant premises;
  • Include details of the protection work to be performed, such as the nature and particulars and the proposed program for undertaking the protection work, including its duration;
  • If building work or demolition work is to be performed at the relevant premises, the name of the relevant building surveyor; and
  • If plumbing work is to be performed at the relevant premises, the name of the relevant permit authority for the plumbing work.
