You will require this licence if you intend to establish a fish farm and conduct commercial aquaculture activities. For example, a licence is required for farming, culturing, hatching, rearing, ranching, enhancing or breeding aquatic organisms in inland waters such as tanks, ponds, dams, and raceways.
Species farmed may include:
- Goldfish; and
- Tropical fish.
To ensure adequate safeguards to Tasmania's freshwater environment, fish farming applications are subject to a rigorous assessment procedure.
