Permit to Burn Windrow or Heaps - Victoria

Service summary

You will require this permit if you intend to burn, or allow to be burnt, windrows or heaps during periods of high fire danger, as declared by the local Fire Authority.

It is recommended that you ascertain whether it is a period of high fire danger prior to lighting the fire.

Eligibility requirements

In order to be eligible for this permit you must:

  • Be willing to abide by all conditions placed on this permit;
  • Have notified your neighbours, council and the local fire brigade of your intention to burn;
  • Have obtained EPA permission to burn;
  • Ensure the day you burn is not a declared smog alert day, or a Total Fire Ban day;
  • Pay the prescribed fees; and
  • Submit a completed application form and any associated documents.
