Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service Licence - Victoria

Description

You will need this licence if you want to establish a private non-emergency patient transport (NEPT) service company and are ready to start operations providing NEPT services or if you intend to continue operating a NEPT company.

NEPT providers supply transport for the transport and clinical care of patients during home to hospital transfer, inter-hospital transfer, and hospital to home transfer. They may also offer first aid services at public events.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • have a certificate from an approved body stating that your quality assurance plan is certified
  • have ASIC company registration
  • provide Certificate of Business Name, issued by the Office of Business and Corporate Affairs
  • provide a certificate of accreditation of your occupational health and safety plan
  • be a fit and proper person
  • provide a completed Financial Statement by a Certified Practising Accountant
  • provide infection control management plan
  • show your equipment and staff are suitable to be used in the service
  • show your arrangements for evaluating, monitoring and improving the quality of the service.

Ongoing eligibility requirements

It is an ongoing requirement of this approval that you provide relevant records and information as required by the agency. You must ensure that all the following records are accurately maintained:

  • patient care records
  • staff records
  • Quality Assurance Plan records.

If you have or are granted this licence and do not have a current certificate of accreditation of your occupational health and safety plan, you must obtain this accreditation and submit a copy of the certificate to the Secretary within 3 months.

Duration

The licence is valid for two years from the issue or renewal.
