Mineral Prospecting Licence - Victoria

Description

You will require this licence if you intend to prospect or explore for minerals. This licence entitles the holder to do this, as well as carry out mining on land covered by the Mineral Prospecting Licence and any other activities that are incidental to mining.

This licence cannot be renewed and the land that is covered by the licence cannot exceed five hectares. This licence extends to the sea bed and its subsoil within the territorial limits of Victorian water.

Information that is required in the application for a Mineral Prospecting Licence is as follows:

  • name and address of applicants
  • contact details
  • if the applicant is a company, then supply a list of the directors and a copy of registration of the company
  • area of land applied for
  • map of the land applied for in 1:25,000 scale
  • names and addresses of the owners and occupiers of that land
  • if that land is currently covered by any other Mineral licences
  • term of licence required
  • estimated annual expenditure for the first two years of the licence and estimated total expenditure for the entire term of the licence
  • evidence of financial capability
  • details of applicants experience in mining
  • details of proposed work program.
