You will require this licence if you intend to operate a food or beverage business and provide tables and chairs on a footpath or part of a road where customers can sit and consume their food or drinks.

The council can provide more information in ascertaining the number of tables and chairs permissible on the particular site.

Ongoing requirements

Tables, chairs and other equipment must be placed in a position that maintains at least a 1.8 metre clear walkway on the footpath from the building line and must not be on any part of the road designed for vehicles or within 750mm of the kerb.

If no expiry date is indicated on the permit, the permit expires on 30 June.
