Vessel Registration - Victoria

Service summary

You will require this registration if you intend to use a vessel. A vessel is any boat or craft that is equipped with an engine capable of being used for propulsion in Victorian waters, whether for personal or commercial use.

The vessel register records the identification details of each vessel and the name and address of the person responsible for it.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

A vessel can be registered in the name of a person who is fourteen years old or more, or in the name of a corporation or incorporated body. A vessel can only be registered under one name.

Duration

Registration must be renewed every 12 months.
