Registration of Cats and Dogs - City of Greater Dandenong - Victoria

Description

You will require this registration if you are the owner of a cat or dog that is over three months old.

This registration covers all dogs (including dangerous dogs) that are used for security or similar uses. A dog is considered to be a dangerous dog if:

  • the dog has been trained to attack or bite a person.

Conditions may be imposed on registration, including the enclosure used to contain the dog.

Service type

Licence

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

Owners registering a dog or cat for the first time will not be entitled to the reduced fee for micro-chipping alone, but reduced fees may be available if your animal is desexed and micro-chipped. If you require an exemption to desexing your pet, there is now an additional requirement that a veterinarian must personally examine an animal and state in writing why the health of the animal would be harmed if it was desexed.

You can now only be defined as the owner of a dog or cat if you are over eighteen.

Duration

Registrations are an annual charge and must be renewed by 10 April each year.
