Accident Tow Truck Driver Accreditation - Victoria

Description

You will need this accreditation if you are the driver or driver's assistant of a tow truck and intend on driving to an accident scene within an accident tow truck allocation area such as the metropolitan areas of Melbourne, Geelong or Mornington Peninsula.

This authorisation approves the people involved in the towing operation. Separate licensing requirements will apply to the accident tow truck business operation.

The holder of a towing operator accreditation must ensure that their certificate of accreditation is displayed at a specified depot so that it may be inspected by members of the public.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this accreditation you must:

  • hold a current full Victorian Driver's Licence
  • complete a National Police Record Check within the last six months
  • provide two passport size colour photos of yourself
  • be of good character, health and technical ability
  • pay any required fees.

If you hold a current Victorian Probationary Driver's Licence, you can only apply for this authorisation if you are employed at an accident towing depot in a role other than a tow truck driver, or if you are an immediate member of a family business that owns and operates a towing licence.

Ongoing eligibility requirements
