Service summary

You will require this licence if you intend to operate a food or beverage business and provide tables and chairs on a footpath or part of a road where customers can sit and consume their food or drinks.

The council can provide more information in ascertaining the number of tables and chairs permissible on the particular site.

Eligibility requirements

The following requirements must be met:

  • The table and chairs (and any other objects) must be placed in a way which allows pedestrians to move past the outdoor eating facility;
  • Access to other businesses or services must not be blocked;
  • Barriers, windbreaks, trees and pot plants may not be used unless permission is obtained; and
  • Equipment and furniture must be in good repair.
