The natural parents of a child must receive counselling from an approved counsellor before consenting to the adoption of the child.
Adoption records and adoption court reports are not ordinarily available to the public. Adoptive parents, adopted persons and their relatives are entitled to apply for adoption information held by a relevant authority.
