Service summary

You will require this authority if you intend to undertake rain-making operations (cloud-seeding). A rain-making operation involves seeding or nucleating clouds by artificial means from a manned aircraft.

This authority may be granted to promote rainfall or otherwise modify natural cloud processes for any of the following purposes:

  • Improving primary production;
  • Addressing water shortages;
  • Reducing fire-danger in a forest area; or
  • Any other purpose that the Agency considers to be in the public interest.

Your authorisation will specify in what area, and at which times you are permitted to undertake these operations.
