Vehicle Tester Licence - Victoria

Description

You will require this licence if you intend to operate an inspection facility or a motor vehicle mechanical repair business. A Licensed Vehicle Tester (LVT) is a person or company operating a retail motor vehicle mechanical repair or inspection facility that is accessible to members of the public where vehicles are inspected for road worthiness.

This licence excludes premises used for the testing of buses and taxis. This licence will also allow you to formally authorise your staff to test vehicles and sign certificates on your behalf.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • be a fit and proper person to hold a licence
  • have submitted criminal history check documentation with Victoria Police
  • have successfully completed the VicRoads Licensed Vehicle Tester Accreditation training
  • be a proprietor of the business
  • have a suitable premises to conduct testing and examinations
  • submit the application form and associated documentation with the Agency
  • pay the prescribed fees.
