Request to Review Infringement - Victoria

Service summary

If you have been given an infringement notice by your local council, such as a parking fine, you may apply to the council for a review of the decision.

The council is then required to review the decision and suspend enforcement of the infringement penalty until the review is complete.

Eligibility requirements

Your application must:

  • Be in writing;
  • State the grounds on which the decision should be reviewed; and
  • Provide your current address.

Applications may be made on any of the following grounds:

  • The decision was unlawful;
  • There has been a mistake of identity;
  • Special circumstances apply to you; or
  • Your conduct should be excused due to exceptional circumstances.

Examples of special circumstances may include having a mental or intellectual disability, a serious drug addiction, or homelessness.
