Asset Protection Permit - Victoria

Service summary

You may require this permit if you are an owner, builder, developer or appointed agent and you intend to enter, disrupt or interfere with council-owned or maintained assets and property.

You may be required by the Council to erect a fence, undertake protection or other maintenance works, and ensure any damages to municipal assets are repaired.

Some other activities you may undertake that may require this permit include water or sewer connection or stormwater connection, or changes to existing street access design, parking or standing areas.

You may also be required to pay a security bond.

Permit is valid for twelve months from the date of issue.

For each additional inspection resulting from a contractor's failure to comply with Council permit requirements or a permit holder's decision for Council to manage the repair of any damages on their behalf. Fees for 2016-17.


Administration fee - resulting from a permit holder's decision for Council to manage the repair of any damages on their behalf (does not include the actual cost of reinstatement). Fees for 2016-17.


Asset protection bonds - residential properties. Fees for 2016-17.
