Electrical Switchgear Workers Licence - Victoria

Service summary

You will require this licence if you intend to carry out electrical installation work that is limited to the assembly, alteration, repair and maintenance of switchgear and controlgear assemblies.

Switchgear and controlgear assembly means switching devices together with associated equipment such as internal electrical, mechanical and structural parts. It must be assembled under the responsibility of a manufacturer.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence, you must:

  • have completed a 4 year contract of training as an electrical fitter that has included 12 months experience in carrying out electrical switchgear fitting work
  • hold a Certificate III in Switchgear and Controlgear
  • have completed the Licensed Switchgear Worker's Assessment.

You will also be granted this licence if you have qualifications, proficiency and experience to equivalent standards to the conditions listed above.
