Service summary

You are required to be registered if you intend to practise as any of the following in Australia:

  • Dentist;
  • Dental specialist;
  • Dental therapist;
  • Dental hygienist;
  • Oral health therapist; and
  • Dental prosthetist.

Please note that the types of activities considered a part of dental practice may be updated or changed from time to time.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

You may be eligible for general, specialist, non-practising or limited registration if you are:

  • Qualified for registration in the relevant health profession;
  • Not disqualified under law from applying, or being registered; and
  • Meet any other requirements stated in the registration standard.
